Chapter 5: And so it continued...

And so it continued...

At the end of the 1990s the band was not Motley Crue after attempts to still be popular but coser to what ruled the world in music - grunge - they had their 1994 and 1997 very different releases and at that time I was nowhere near fully understanding like most others and it totally became full circle withthe 1999 release New Tattoo.

Motley Crue was not Motley in the same sense that I had loved the band in the 80s. it was for sure no accident they were not heard from from 2000 till 2005. They were not a band anyone cared for in the sense of popularity. I am not goinig to lie, it was a strange thing for me too and I simply continued mostly to not see them but to try to collect things not having.

Besides a very important thing was just around the corner for me. The new years eve of 1999 going into a new millenium. I back in 1980 said if - just IF KISS was still around and would do a show no matter what I would let that show be my choice before anything else in the world. And they did and I went. They played Vancouver. But fuck me that too was a dissaster. it was advertised as THE KISS show of KISS shows. And so much failed incl the midnight extravagans.

Ohh my god I was so dissapointed. And I elt sorry for mostly myself that had waited for 20 years for that one night.
but also for the longtime KISS fans that were there. it did not take long after that for me to sell my KISS collection. It simply ended my passion on a collector level that one show. That one extreme night.

Back to Crue - The years of 2001 till 2004 were weird. Dead silence and I was not to be too high on a lot of things in the Crue camp. but then came Brides Of Destruction - a Sixx side project and an album I loved. I was at a radio station that time in Denmark and did a couple of radio interviews with them and did also an agreement to meet up on the release date of the album in Hollywood that was a new starting chapter to me in so many ways.

I cant even begin to tell you all how well I was treated byt the band and Sixx and I got closer was shared with a lot of news secrets and what was to come stuff. There was like a new and far deeper chapter being written at this time. A personal relationship almost with infos and contact details on so many different levels if I ever needed blah blah blah.

And ofcause wwe all know that went down to being good for one album a ton of shows for my part on that album and then the rumoured reunion of the Crue 2005. Ofcause that blew up the Brides and they relased a second album without Sixx and basically ended really bad. I have everything they ever did and produced released andthen some. And I am grateful for the memories. It was sick how fun that was. The start of the ten year long contract with a new label and many many tours for the Crue also had its continued personal contact and meet up and what not. It was fun and the return o the Crue was probably thier best live wise like ever.

My focus, my time and my money went again into nothing but the band. Shit I could write a book about these years 2003 - 2010 like you would not believe. So damn many memories stories and all.

I got my first sense of Sixx not being a god in 2007. As he and his wife were going through a really bad divorse he became an idiot. He also did not hide it on stage. I saw many examples of him being a shithead towards fans that year. And I was kind of hurt by it. I did not want him to seem as a prick in any way. But no ... even towards some of the band members he was an idiot. I remember cutting that tour short in America even though I had severaltickets I simply gave them away cause I was not to be a part of this. I know it sounds weird and I should probably not had taken it so personal. But I did. I am excisting round passion and emotions. ALWAYS HAS BEEN. Thats my weakness.

Another dream came true as the band teamed up for a THE TOUR 2012 with KISS. man I was not around 1983 when they had 6 shows together in America. But now was that chance again and it felt magical. And to me it was. KISS was good then for me. Not wakening up any lust for picking up the KISS collecting again - no - but they were good and Crue was as well on most of the shows I get to see. Remember I was oncerned for the band and especially KISS / Gene due to the armor he carries as their show in Phoenix AZ was over 45 degrees celcius. It was madness how hot it was there.

My spendings and my collecting was flying through the roof of both new merch and found old stuff. I cannot even begin to share how deep a focus I had on things back then... I had a job where I was on extreme good terms with my boss and could work overtime and be off when ever I needed to. When ever I found a way to cover happenings in the Crue world. And I did, oh man did I travel a lot over the years. Al lthat continued till massive changes came in 2014, with the news of the band letting the world know they would hang it up and retire.
